Kimy Podenco Paradise is an initiative by Liliane Susanne Rausch. Liliane was born in the Netherlands in 1967 and grew up surrounded by animals from a young age. At the age of twenty, she began an international career that took her to live, work, and travel all over the world.
During a business trip to Spain, her life changed forever. At Mรกlaga airport, she saw a dog of a breed she had never encountered before: a Podenco. This dog had just been rescued in Spain and was on her way to a new home, after years of abuse and neglect. Four months later, Liliane adopted a Podenco herself: Kimy. Soon after, his best friend Romo joined him โ and from that moment on, her life became fully devoted to dogs in need.
Kimy came into her life in November 2014. To her great sorrow, he passed away in June 2016 at only seven years old. In the silence of this loss, Liliane heard an inner voice: โFind the Kimys.โ This became her lifeโs mission: rescuing social dogs and long-term shelter residents โ dogs with no chance of adoption โ and guiding them toward happiness and freedom.
Since then, Liliane has:
-
taken in more than 35 dogs herself from Spain, Greece, and Poland,
-
guided hundreds of dogs to freedom and adoption,
-
supported and advised adopters,
-
helped foundations and shelters in need.
In 2016, she founded Stichting KIMY, which continued in March 2023 as Platinum Dogs Foundation.
A Forever Home
Kimy Podenco Paradise is a sanctuary: a loving retirement home for dogs who had no future left. They live in a family setting, ranging in age from 5 to 17 years. These dogs are not available for adoption โ they are allowed to stay forever.
In April 2021, Liliane moved with 16 rescue dogs from the Netherlands to Lapland, Sweden. The sanctuary is located on the edge of a nature reserve, where the dogs enjoy peace, forests, the river, snow, and the magical northern lights.
Kimy Podenco Paradise receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations. Thanks to its supporters, the dogs here are given their well-deserved second chance at a happy life.
